A very rare Rolex Oyster Perpetual Super Precision 5504. According to serial number 372XX watch was made in 1958.

The watch features the original Rolex 3-6-9 Honeycomb dial and radium hands. The stainless steel case is still in good condition. Inside the case back is date stamp II 1958. The case size is 36mm.

Rolex cal. 1530 Super Precision automatic movement has just been completely serviced and runs very accurately.

The Rolex Jubilee 6251H stainless steel bracelet is in good condition.

Included is a rare 1950s Rolex green watch box, no original papers.

The watch comes with a 12-month service warranty.

Rolex OP Super Precision “Honeycomb” 5504 vuodelta 1958

The 5504 Super Precision was a very rare transitional model in Rolex’s production in the late 1950s. It used the same 36mm case as the Rolex Explorer 6610 and was only manufactured in 1957-1958. The 5504 Super Precision was produced under three different lineups, all sharing the same reference number. The most well-known of these is the 5504 Explorer Super Precision. The Explorer model featured a black Gilt-Gloss dial and Mercedes hands. Second was Air-King Super Precision, which was a unique variation among the Air-King ref. 5500 models. While the basic 5500 Air-King always had a 34mm case, the 5504 had a 36mm case. A very rare Double Red version is known, where both Air-King and Super Precision texts are written in red on the dial. The third version was the one we have here, featuring only the text “Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Super Precision.” Like the Air-King model, this one was made with both black and white dials. In the case of this particular watch, the “Super Precision” text has worn off, but traces can be detected with a microscope. All three versions were available with Honeycomb dials. The Honeycomb models always had 3-6-9 numerals on the dial and a honeycomb pattern on the dial’s surface. Honeycomb and Double Red dials are highly sought after by Rolex collectors, making them some of the most desirable Super Precision models.

Kellossa on alkuperäinen Rolex 3-6-9 Honeycomb kellotaulu ja radium-osoittimet. Teräskuori on yhä hyväkuntoinen. Takapohjan sisäpuolella on leima II 1958. Kuoren koko on 36 mm.

ROLEX 5504

5504 Super Precision oli hyvin harvinainen transitional -malli Rolexin 1950-luvun lopun tuotannossa. Kello käytti samaa 36 mm kuorta kuin Rolex Explorer 6610 ja sitä valmistettiin vain vuosina 1957-1958.

5504 Super Precision -mallia valmistettiin kolmen eri malliston alla, joiden kaikkien ref. numero oli sama.

Tunnetuin näistä on 5504 Explorer Super Precision. Explorer mallissa oli musta Gilt-Gloss kellotaulu ja Mercedes -osoittimet.

Toisena tulee Air-King Super Precision, joka oli Air King ref. 5500 malleista poikkeava erikoisuus. 5500 Air-King mallit ovat aina 34 mm kuorella, mutta 5504 mallissa oli 36 mm kuori. Air King 5504-mallista tunnetaan myös hyvin harvinainen Double Red -versio, jossa sekä Air-King ja Super Precision tekstit ovat kirjoitettu tauluun punaisella värillä.

Kolmas versio oli tämä malli, jossa oli vain teksti Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Super Precision. Kuten Air-King mallia, tätäkin tehtiin sekä mustalla että valkoisella taululla. Tästä meidän yksilöstä teksti Super Precision on kulunut pois, mutta sen jälki on havaittavissa mikroskoopin avulla.

Kaikkiin kolmeen eri malliin oli tarjolla myös Honeycomb -tauluversiot. Honeycomb-malleissa oli aina 3-6-9 numerointi sekä taulun pinnassa hunajakenno kuvio. Honeycomb ja Double Red- taulut ovat Rolex keräilijöiden keskuudessa halutuimpia Super Precision malleja.
