A Rare Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust ref.1600 from year 1966.

Watch features a striking deep-black silver-gilt-gloss tritium dial with original tritium hands. Smooth bezel specific to reference 1600 and stainless steel case remain in fine condition. Case retains water resistance. Case diameter approximately 36 mm.

Rolex automatic cal.1570 movement was serviced at authorized Rolex AD service center in 2021. Recent tests confirm very strong performance.

Watch is fitted with Rolex Oyster stainless steel bracelet ref. 78360/558 in excellent condition. Clasp code G (1982).

Watch is delivered in green Rolex service pouch. No original box or papers.

Rolex Datejust 1600 Silver-Gilt from 1966

SILVER-GILT-GLOSS In vintage watch terminology, gilt generally refers to dial text and markers created using a galvanic process directly on dial surface. In most cases base metal was gold. When paired with steel or white-gold cases, base metal was often rhodium-plated, resulting in silver-colored text. These dials are commonly described as silver-gilt. Term gloss refers to hard, high-shine lacquer finish applied to dial surface. Combined with paint, this finish produces characteristic deep black appearance associated with many vintage Rolex dials. Kellossa on upea syvänmusta silver-gilt-gloss tritium kellotaulu ja alkuperäiset tritium-osoittimet. 1600 mallin sileä bezel ja teräskuori on hienossa kunnossa. Kuori on yhä vesitiivis. Kuoren koko on n.36 mm.

Rolexin cal.1570 automaattikoneisto on huollettu Rolexin AD:n huollossa 2021. Testeissä koneisto toimi erittäin hyvin.

SILVER-GILT-GLOSS

Gilt termi vintage-rannekellojen yhteydessä tarkoittaa yleisesti, että kellotaulun tekstit ja numerot on luotu galvaanisella prosessilla kellotaulun pintaan. Useimmiten lopullisessa taulussa pohjametallin väri oli kulta, mutta teräs- tai valkokulta kuorien kanssa pohjametalli oli useimmiten rodinoitu, jolloin teksti näkyi hopean värisenä. Näitä kellotauluja kuvataan nimellä; Silver-gilt.

Gloss termi taas viittaa näissä kellotauluissa käytettyyn kiiltävään kovaan lakkapintaan, joka antoi yhdessä maalauksen kanssa taululle ominaisen yleensä syvän mustan ilmeen.

Rolex käytti gilt-kellotauluja erityisesti Submariner, GMT, Explorer ja joskus harvoin Datejust malleissa vuosina 1962-1967.
