Exceptionally well-preserved gold-plated Excelsior Park chronograph.

BASIC INFORMATION

Exceptionally well-preserved gold-plated Excelsior Park chronograph. According to serial number 929XXX watch was made approximately 1958.

This gilt chronograph has superb original silvered dial and baton-type hands. In addition to regular time display hands, the dial has chronograph central second and 45-minute counter. The gold-plated stainless steel case has a screw-down case back and is splash-resistant. The case size is 37.3 mm.

Watch has manual-winding Excelsior Park JB 4 chronograph movement, that was just fully serviced. The movement is shock-protected, making it suitable for everyday use.

The suede leather strap is from our own collection.

The watch comes with a 12-month service warranty.

Excelsior Park kronografi vuodelta 1958

EXCELSIOR PARK Excelsior Park was founded by Henri Jeanneret-Brehm. In 1911, he acquired the H. Magnenat-LeCoultre factory located in Saint-Imier, with support from the Gallet watch factory. Initially, the factory’s brand was Jeanneret-Brehm, but after a few years, it was replaced with name Excelsior. In 1918, the brand evolved into Excelsior Park to facilitate marketing in English-speaking markets. Excelsior Park mainly produced chronographs, wristwatches, and watch movements for various watchmakers. The most well-known brands they collaborated with were Gallet, Girard-Perregaux, and Zenith. Excelsior Park became famous in 1939 for its patented oval-shaped cal. JB-42 chronograph movement. This was followed by more traditional two- and three-register chronographs, the JB-4 and JB-40. Development of these models continued into the 1970s. Excelsior Park chronograph movements were always of high quality and competed in accuracy with other renowned chronograph manufacturers of the 1940s to 1960s. Gallet & Cie purchased most of EP’s production, but Zenith and several other manufacturers were important clients as well. Some of the production was also sold under their own Excelsior Park brand. Excelsior Park continued watch production until the 1970s. By the late 1970s, quartz watches had displaced the demand for mechanical watches, and Excelsior Park could no longer sustain its operations. In 1984, Gallet & Cie acquired the remaining inventory of the factory, and in 1986, the Excelsior Park name was transferred to the German Flume Company. Flume attempted to restart watch production but could not make the business profitable. In 2020, the Swiss company Korius acquired ownership of the Excelsior Park brand and, in the same year, introduced a new watch collection deeply rooted in historical models.

EXCELSIOR PARK KRONOGRAFI

Harvinaisen hyväkuntoinen kullattu Excelsior Park kronografi. Sarjanumeron 929XXX mukainen valmistusvuosi on n. 1958.

Kellossa on huippukuntoinen alkuperäinen kellotaulu ja osoittimet. Normaalin aikanäytön lisäksi kellotaulussa on osoittimet kronografin sekunti- ja 45 minuutin laskurille. Kullattu teräskuori on varustettu kierrettävällä takapohjalla ja se on roiskevesitiivis. Kuoren koko on 37,3 mm.

Kellossa on juuri täysin huollettu manuaalivetoinen Excelsior Park JB 4 kronografikoneisto. Koneisto on iskusuojattu, joten kellon voi huoletta ottaa myös arkikäyttöön.

Mokkanahkainen ranneke on meidän omasta mallistosta.

Kellolla on 12 kk huoltotakuu.

EXCELSIOR PARK

Excelsior Park kellotehtaan perustaja oli Henri Jeanneret-Brehm. Vuonna 1911 hän osti Saint-Imierissä sijainneen H.Magnenat-LeCoultre tehtaan Gallet-kellovalmistajan tukemana. Aluksi tehtaan tuotemerkkinä oli Jeanneret-Brehm, mutta jo muutaman vuoden jälkeen se korvautui tuotemerkillä Excelsior. Vuonna 1918 merkki päivittyi muotoon Excelsior Park, jotta sitä olisi helpompi markkinoida englanninkielisillä markkinoilla. Excelsior Park valmisti pääasiassa ajanottokelloja, rannekelloja ja kellokoneistoja useille eri kellovalmistajille. Näistä tunnetuimmat merkit olivat Gallet, Girard-Perregaux ja Zenith.

Excelsior Parkin tuli tunnetuksi vuonna 1939 patentoimallaan ovaalinmuotoisella cal. JB-42 kronografi koneistolla. Tätä seurasi perinteisemmät kahden- ja kolmen rekisterin kronografit JB-4 ja JB-40. Mallien kehitys jatkui 1970-luvulle asti. Excelsior Park kronografi koneistot olivat aina korkealaatuisia ja kilpailivat tarkkuudessa muiden tunnetuiden 1940-1960-luvun kronografivalmistajien kanssa. Suurimman osan EP:n tuotannosta osti kellovalmistaja Gallet & Cie, mutta myös Zenith ja useat muut valmistajat olivat tärkeitä asiakkaita. Osa tuotannosta myytiin myös omalla Excelsior Park -tuotemerkillä.

Excelsior Park jatkoi kellojen valmistusta aina 1970-luvulle asti. 1970-luvun loppupuolella kvartsikellot syrjäyttivät mekaanisten kellojen kysynnän ja Excelsior Park ei pystynyt enää jatkamaan toimintaansa. Lopulta 1984 Gallet & Cie osti tehtaan jäljellä olleen varaston ja Excelsior Park nimi siirtyi 1986 saksalaiselle Flume Companylle. Flume yritti aloittaa kellojen valmistuksen uudelleen, mutta ei onnistunut saamaan toimintaa kannattavaksi.

2020 sveitsiläinen Korius-yhtiö hankki Excelsior Park -tuotemerkin omistukseensa ja vielä samana vuonna esitteli uuden, vahvasti historiallisiin malleihin tukeutuvan, kellomallistonsa.
